Daikin’s Commitment towards a net-zero future during Singapore’s Climate Action Week 2022

Daikin has always been committed to net-zero emissions. Our Environmental Vision 2050 aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. As part of this journey, we made the most of Singapore’s Climate Action Week, a week wherein people and communities worked together to take climate action for a more sustainable future for Singapore. We did our part by hosting various activities and events to empower others to help us achieve our climate goals. Here are the highlights during the week:

 

Social Media Campaign

To start off Singapore’s Climate Action Week, Daikin shared the important features of our solutions and products on Facebook so that people can better understand how we aim to reduce our carbon footprint.

This was complemented by our Instagram campaign where we shared general energy saving tips so that people can implement them in their own lives to reduce their own carbon footprint.

To create an inclusive dialogue, we conducted polls conducted on both Facebook and Instagram to encourage everyone to join the conversation and become part of the discussion. By engaging with us, we aim to raise awareness and empower everyone to take action towards a sustainable future.

 

            

 

Eco-Friendly Promotions

During Singapore’s Climate Action Week, Daikin also offered promotional deals for the Ezi Series aircon systems series, which uses Daikin’s next-generation R32 refrigerants. These R32 refrigerants can efficiently carry heat, reduce electricity consumption by up to 10 percent, and have a lower impact on the environment.

To encourage customers to switch to this eco-friendlier alternative, every purchase of this air conditioner entitled them to a free Google Nest Mini.

An excellent feature that makes the Ezi Series aircon system convenient is the built-in Smart Control, which allows users to set the temperature using their smartphone. It also comes with energy-saving functions for more efficient use.

Voice control, a new accessibility feature on our Daikin air conditioners allows users to speak commands to our air conditioners. This convenient function is compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

Pichonkun Campaign

For a cute surprise, Daikin’s brand mascot Pichonkun visited our Proshops on the weekends to celebrate Singapore’s Climate Action Week. Visitors got the chance to take photos with Pichonkun along with eco props that promote sustainability.

Additionally, visitors got the chance to win prizes by spinning the wheel and sharing their photos on social media with the hashtags #ChooseR32 and #GoGreenwithDaikin.

Aside from the in-store events and activities, Daikin also hosted internal events during Singapore’s Climate Action Week as part of our efforts to encourage our clients and employees to pledge to go green. By engaging with everyone, we hope to inspire a collective effort towards a more sustainable future.

Reclaiming and Recycling Refrigerants Workshop

At Daikin, we recognize that refrigerant recovery is a crucial step in protecting the environment. When done correctly, it can significantly reduce the amount of harmful refrigerants entering our ecosystem.

Our online training seminar successfully educated dealers and contractors on eco-friendly refrigerant disposal methods, including refrigerant recycling and reclamation. Participants gained knowledge to encourage others to recycle and reclaim refrigerants properly, which can make a positive impact on the environment and improve business practices.

We have also launched a new initiative called the Refrigerant Eco-Cycle pledge to promote sustainable refrigerant recovery and management. By joining this initiative, companies pledge to support zero waste and reduce the production of new refrigerants. 

As of 22 November 2022, a total of 22 companies have already committed to the Refrigerant Eco-Cycle initiative.

 

 

Bring Your Own Cutlery

To reduce the environmental impact of single-use plastic, Daikin distributed reusable cutlery sets to employees to encourage them to opt out of disposable cutlery altogether. While the week may be over, we continue to encourage our employees to use these sets when eating in and out of the office, as part of our ongoing efforts to reduce waste and promote sustainability.
 

      

 

Beach Cleanup

As part of our commitment to environmental conservation, Daikin's staff members actively participated in local efforts during Singapore's Climate Action Week. Our team organized a beach cleanup event at Sembawang to help keep the area clean and promote sustainable practices.

We believe that small actions can make a big difference in the long run. Through our activities during Climate Action Week and ongoing efforts, we hope to inspire others to take part in green initiatives and live more sustainably for the future of our environment.
