What are the IAQ problems?
The dirty and dusty ducts in the office environments can lead to various Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) issues, including reduced ACMV system efficiency, respiratory problems, building occupant discomfort, and chemical contamination with dust.
Reduced ACMV system efficiency occurs when airflow is restricted by dirty ducts, forcing the system to work harder and potentially increasing electricity bills, resulting in more maintenance required. Respiratory issues arise from the accumulation of allergens in dirty ducts, leading to coughing, sneezing, and allergies among building occupants.
Poor IAQ can also result in occupant discomfort, with individuals experiencing fatigue and lethargy, leading to increased sick leave usage and decreased productivity. Additionally, chemical contaminants from industrial production areas can enter office ducts, posing long-term health risks if inhale over time. Urgent remediation is crucial to mitigate these IAQ concerns and ensure a healthy indoor environment.
What IAQ Solutions were proposed?
Daikin’s IAQ team proposed Steam Cleaning, Duct Cleaning and Mould Remediation Package.
For steam cleaning, it involves the use of high-pressure steam to eliminate bacteria and dust on the cooling coil while mould remediation (treatment) involves fumigation and anti-mould paint to prevent the regrowth of mould on the ceiling and diffusers.
For duct cleaning, it removes accumulated dust and pollutants in the supply and return ducts.
