CNA Leadership Summit 2021 Green Recovery

The crisis of climate change has accelerated in recent years, and it is of upmost urgency to address strategic challenges at corporate and public levels. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic situation, there are calls for a global recovery plan. Channel News Asia (CNA) has organised a Leadership Summit 2021 to discuss on Green Recovery, with Daikin Singapore as the main presenter. Sustainability and strategies to mitigate the impact of climate change was top of the agenda where experts discussed green financing, green technology and green leadership, as well as private and public sector efforts and partnerships.

The CNA Leadership Summit 2021 was held at Shangri-La Hotel on 22nd April 2021. With the lunch hosted by Daikin, Mr Chua Ban Hong, Managing Director of Daikin Singapore delivered the Welcome Speech to warmly greet the 150 attendees. Singapore's Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Ms Grace Fu was the guest of honour at the fireside chat. She highlighted that the Government will be looking into financing projects that are of high quality and sustainability that can meet the acceptable sustainability standards.

Our chairperson, Mr Liu Shaw Jiun, has been invited to the panel discussion on “Exploring new private-public collaborations for economic prosperity and environmental sustainability”. During the discussion, Mr Liu shared on green technology and green leadership that are necessary to enable national efficacy and prosperity. One notable example cited was Tengah, which is Singapore's first large scale centralised cooling system for HDB Residential Development. In this estate, water-cooled chillers supplied by Daikin will be implemented. This is a greener approach as compared to the conventional split-unit air conditioning system as the water-cooled system guarantees higher energy efficiency and savings so users will enjoy lower maintenance and servicing costs. This feature will help greatly mitigate the greenhouse effects.

We are regularly reviewing our products and service offerings, as well as operation standards to ensure greener methods are implemented. “Daikin Environmental Vision as a group is to achieve net carbon zero by 2050. This will be achieved by combining our strength in Perfecting the Air with our technology” says Mr Liu.
